About Me
I am a tutor and teacher with 10+ years of experience teaching students from pre-K to undergraduate. I specialize in teaching math, science and standardized test prep (ACT and SAT) to high school students and occasional middle school students.
I received my undergraduate degree in physics and I am currently completing a master’s in applied statistics. I hold a current Colorado teaching license for math and science as well as a TEFL certification.
For two years while living in Prague, CZ, I taught at an English preschool while tutoring privately in math and English.
After moving to Colorado, I tutored for three years at a tutoring center. I have been tutoring privately around the area for eight years.
I taught math and physics at a public high school in the Front Range for two years.
My Approach
To find our way we must know where we are and where we would like to be. A good portion of our first meeting will be spent finding out the depth of a student’s knowledge in the subject area.
Next, we will set a schedule for regular meetings, targets and practice. Before the second meeting, I will develop a plan to meet these targets. This usually involves a small amount of extra practice for the student. If we need to catch up, we will remediate some lessons as necessary. If we would like to move ahead of the student’s course schedule, we will add in new topics or methods to supplement the student’s current schoolwork.
Every single student learns in their own way and at their own pace. One of our goals in the beginning will be to find out just what kind of learning is best for your student. There are many ways for a subject to be presented and this is one of the main advantages of one-to-one tutoring sessions. We can find the approach best suited to your student and use that as a starting point to branch out to new ideas and ways of seeing the subject.
